Brian Dupont & Alan Steele's The Impulse For Keeping A Record at Adah Rose Gallery (3766 Howard Ave. Kensington, MD) November 4, 2016 to January 15, 2017. There will be a vernissage and brunch from 12 to 3 p.m. Sunday November 13 (with live music).

Dupont, from Tacoma, Washington, creates text-based paintings with an eye on how visual information is conveyed and/or distorted within abstract painting. Found text, including poetry, tweets and other writings all make appearances in
his work. The artist currently lives in Brooklyn and received an MFA in painting from Cornell.

Steele's work, mechanical, mathematical and architectural in nature showcase the "exacting and intellectual pursuit of ideas arising from post-minimalism." He used different techniques of drawing, lettering and mark-making in works on
paper. Steele was born in Caracas, grew up in Rio de Janeiro and received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts and his MFA from RISD.

Fridge Fair, from Eric Ginsberg, presents their Mini-Fridge Fair in the Betsy Hotel's Underground Gallery (1440 Ocean Drive) from November 27 through 4, 2016.  The fair will be open 24 hours. Events will be added so check the Fridge website linked above.

The gala reception is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m, Saturday December 3rd. Fridge's new home at the Betsy is in the heart of South Beach near other Art Week attractions. The show is a bit smaller that its last two versions but this curated little fair is well worth a visit.

The show is curated by founder, Ginsberg, and the $10 donation at the door benefits SPCA programs in Miami and Zimbabwe (if you don't have $10 you won't be turned away). Artists will range from well known to soon to be known artists.
