Robert Fontaine Gallery (2349 NW 2nd Ave., Miami) presents Black Door Limousine, a solo exhibition by Anthony Lister from April 11 to April 26, 2015. There will be an opening reception from 5 to 9 p.m. during the Wynwood Second Saturday Art Walk.

The exhibit is a sort of survey of celebrity in relation to today's art world. The canvases in the show are also a sort of timeline of Lister's life: his interests, his social consciousness and his views of he future. You will note a variety of influences in the two pieces here.

Lister is an Australian artist and was part of Brisbane's street art movement. He moved to NYC in 2003 to apprentice with Max Gimblett. You can find out more about him at www.anthonylister.com.

The pieces shown, despite the title, are of new mixed media works on paper. Carter, out of New York, is also known as a filmmaker (his film Maladies featured James Franco and Katherine Keener). He uses cut-outs of his drawings and paintings, strategically placed, to reference both modern art and the everyday spaces we inhabit. Carter has exhibited in the USA and Europe and was shown at the 2006 Whitney Biennial.

Laura Lancaster's "A Stranger's Dream" Runs March 20 To April 19, 2015 At Sargent's Daughters (New York)

Laura Lancaster's A Stranger's Dream runs March 20 to April 19, 2015 at Sargent's Daughter's (New York). There will be an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday March 20, (tonight as I type!).

This is the first solo show by the English painter at the gallery. The subject of Lancaster's work is often anonymous thrift-store and flea market photographs. This is such a charming idea. I have often fretted over such abandoned, disconnected photos myself. I love the notion. These pieces are taken from found home movies.

The title refers to how a film can echo memories and dreams.

Lancaster lives in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and has been shown worldwide (including at solo presentation at Art Basel Hong Kong).

These multimedia pieces are manifestations of "home." The artist explores our notions of material culture, interior life, personal history and feminism. Agee lives in Brooklyn and is known not only for mixed media but ceramics and installation. Her installations have appeared at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum and her ceramics have been shown at the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Walker Art Center, Conversations in Clay and Dirt on Delight. And this is a short list of exhibitions and museums that have shown her work.
