Jean was a French Surrealist and this solo exhibition is a collection of 14 ink, gouache and flottage paintings on masonite and 11 India ink, graphite and gouache drawings on paper. All works were from the period 1939 to 75. Flottage is a method of painting created by the artist. Jean's work was part of the Fantastic Art, Dada and Surrealism, shown at the Museum of Modern Art (New York).
This show is Fliri, an Italian artist's, first show in the USA. The show consists of seven Artistone, varnish, metal and MDF sculptural objects. These are all masks on custom podiums and come from the artist's series Where Do I End and the World Begins. Fliri lives and works in both South Tyrol and Zurich, Switzerland.
