Shoshana Wayne Gallery (Santa Monica) showed these pieces at Pulse Miami 2013.

I somehow managed to get no information on either. The bottom is a lovely
mosaic neither the photo nor the video do justice to.

I strongly recommend heading o the gallery website and searching through all their artists (since I didn't have time). Head to
www.shoshanawayne.com.

David Hayward's First Solo Exhibit Opens At Frosch&portmann February 27, 2014

David Hayward's first solo exhibition runs at frosch&portmann (53 Stanton St., New York) February 27 to April 6, 2014. There will be an opening 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014.

Hayward's paintings are the result of a process of reworking them. Paintings often sit for some time before the artist returns to decide if his original ideas were good or not. His small paintings are creative intuitively with the artist creating or borrowing things that resonate with him.

Hayward is based in both New York and Washington DC. Look at his works with an eye to the different visual workings of single forms.

Daphne Arthur's Pancorum Hominum runs February 27 to April 10, 2014 at Rare Gallery (547 W. 27 St., #514 New York). There will be a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 27.

These are new works by the artist. This is her third solo show at Rare. You may not notice the recognizable forms in some of her work. They are also complicated abstractions. She arrives at this end result by layering, scraping away and reconfiguring the pieces as they develop.

Mary Henderson's Sunday Paintings runs at Lyons Wier Gallery (New York) February 27 to March 29, 2014.  There will be an opening reception 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 27.

Henderson uses social media and photo-sharing websites as her source material. In this series of paintings she becomes part of the leisure activities of the middle-class recent arrival in the city. The settings for these paintings are the gentrified part of the city.

These works are so realistic that at first glance you almost take them for photographs. They are mazing technically and provocative in concept
.

Hugo Tillman's Photography Solo Show "Betwixt And Between" Opens At Nohra Haime Gallery (NYC) February 19, 2014

Picture
Hugo Tillman's Betwixt And Between opens at Nohra Haime Gallery (730 Fifth Ave., New York) on February 19, 2014. It runs until March 29.

There will be an opening from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 19.

Tillman is a photographer and these photos are a new series of black photographs. The theme is an exploration of cultural iconography through history. It was inspired by his grandfather's collection of obects.

These photographs take an enormous amount of care to create--exposure times are between 30 and 60 minutes. They are set inside and outside with the subjects being ancient pieces found in museums and temples worldwide.

Tillman was born in London and moved to New York. He holds a Masters of Fine Arts from Pratt (I don't mean this literally--he may have it on his wall).
