The pieces that struck me were the three dimensional wall pieces. I suggest popping over to the site (linked above) to rummage through the represented artists.
The gallery is located in India.
Iram Art (Ahmedabad) showed work at Scope Miami 2022. I'd like to tell you more about them but the "about us" section on the website linked above doesn't seem to lead anywhere. Quite mysterious. The pieces that struck me were the three dimensional wall pieces. I suggest popping over to the site (linked above) to rummage through the represented artists. The gallery is located in India.

Axiom Gallery (Phoenix / Philadelphia) showed work by Michael Gorman. Who doesn't like ghostly, haunting cowboy imagery? Since I am getting bloggy in this last year of Mapanare coverage let me wax eloquent on the subject. These are darker than some by the artist. When I looked at the website I notices some of his work is brighter and more "happy" looking. They also think Kansas and Texas are the Midwest. I mean...I GUESS Kansas.... Stick Together Gallery (Amsterdam) showed work by Max Zorn at Scope Miami 2022. Zorn's medium is....tape. He has added some digital elements to the mix over time. Shaking things up a little bit is good for art. In recent years I've skipped writing about Zorn because I felt I'd written about him incessantly. Of course the search mechanism on this site is so shoddy and the search engines so ridiculously bought and paid for you can no longer find most of these little bits of writing. Likewise you cannot find the video interview I did with Max many, many, years ago. If I can find it I will add the link here! But he is still out there refining his art in a style that people have tried to imitate but haven't quite gotten right. So Bravo Max Zorn. Casa Poidomana (Miami) shows work by Humberto Poidomani at Scope Miami 2022. He is a painter and sculptor whose work is varied but always comes with commentary, sometimes obvious, sometimes subtle. The work is unconventional in the truest sense of the word; His work is ubiquitous at Miami Art Week and you are sure to see it whatever year you attend. Porkchop's work has been at Scope and other fairs for years, shown by Parlor Gallery (Asbury Park, NJ). It might, on the surface, conjure images of death metal but when you take some time and look closely, this isn't as "dark" as it seems. I am sure there is some psychological component , some almost Rorschach Test-like explanation for why some of us see the dark and not the gold in pieces like this. Looking at the Porkchop and gallery website will also give you an idea of the diversity of work from the artist. It isn't all in this style. In fact, looking through the Art of Porkchop website I was reminded of some of his dreamier, often cosmic art. There is still a thread that connects it all, which is fascinating. Bruce R. MacDonald makes art out of steel, hard, cold steel and, as describe,s it HERE, this is a mix of science, art and metaphysics. He coaxes the light out of this mix of elemental atoms. You can listen to the artist below explaining his work and it's origins in a less esoteric way. Either way it is remarkable art in form and technique. Galerie Ariel Jakob (Paris) showed work by Stéphane Halleux at Scope Miami 2022. Halleaux' sculptures were used in the Oscar winning short, Mr. Hublot. His super heroes are of a different sort. Glass2grass (Miami) Focuses On Functional Glass Work But At Scope Miami 2022 It Is About Art12/1/2022 Glass2grass make a variety of glass products and art pieces. You have to click you are over 21 to get on the site so you get an idea of SOME of their products (certainly not a majority). At Scope Miami, however the focus is on fine art. Find out more at glass2grass.com. Tomotoshi Hoshino showed work with Japan Promotion Gallery (Tokyo) at Scope Miami 2022. The interview is in his native language as suggested by the folks at the gallery. This is a record of what is important to the artist and it is likely best represented in his own words, in his own language. Please feel free to translate in comments. You can find out more about Hoshino at his website, tomotoshihoshino.com. If you take the time to go to his website you will note the variety of his work. There is a hint of the traditional but his work is decidedly modern and unique. Landscapes mix with portraiture of people...and animals. Rod Art Factory (Paris), unsurprisingly, shows work by Rod. Rather than read me on his work? Listen to him tell you about it below. You can also go to the Rod Art Factory website for more information and to see more work. Rod, from Quimper, France, is not a typical solo artist. The work at the Rod Art Factory is a collaboration with Stella Fasciana. Fasciana, whose training is in architecture, while Rod's is in fine arts. The two have worked together for almost a decade. |
