Mike Weiss Gallery ( 520 West 24, New York) presents Diva's Song, a solo show by Jerry Kearns (in collaboration with singer/performer Nora York), from July 9 to August 22, 2015.

Kearns creates larger than life figures in acrylic paint—these comic book style images. These, and his psychological pop art vibe, mix with Puccini as sung by York. They reimagine the aria, Vissa d’arte in the context of these works. Pop art mixeswith opera and cowboys.

Golden Waters A Light Installation by Grimanesa Amorós From June To September 2015. The light sculpture installation extends from the Soleri Bridge in Scottsdale Arizona.

The installation is presented by Scottsdale Public Art and reflects the natural elegance of the Arizona canal. It is attached to the bridge which was designed by the visionary artist and philosopher, Paolo Soleri.

Amorós was born in Peru and currently lives and works in New York City. She works in differnt mediums and her work is steeped in a wide variety of interests" social history, critical theory and scientific research. All of these have influenced her work; she seems the perfect person to create art attached to the bridge designed by Soleri. Find out more about the artist HERE.

Pink, Gray And Green
These pieces by Wolf Kahn were show by Jerald Melberg Gallery (Charlotte) at Art Miami New York 2015. We've posted work by Kahn many times before, especially work shown by Jerald Melberg.

Kahn is a German-born, American-based artist most known for his luminous landscapes. He studied with the great Hans Hoffman. There may be no landscape artist alive today creating works as startlingly beautiful as these. His style is also instantly recognizable and unique.

KM Fine Arts (Chicago) Showed Work By Bernie Taupin And Dana Louise Kirkpatrick At Art Miami New York 2015

PictureVolumes: Fiction I

by Bernie Taupin

KM Fine Arts (Chicago) showed work by Bernie Taupin and Dana Louise Kirkpatrick at Art Miami New York 2015.

Taupin is that Taupin. He wrote the lyrics for such songs as: Levon, Daniel, Your Song and many others (we will forgive him for writing the lyrics to We Built This City). This piece consists of newspaper, aerosol glue, acrylic and wax on canvas.

Kirkpatrick's pieces below use a variety of media--paint, charcoal (in the upper piece pastel), newspaper etc. They are culture bending and iconic but maybe a little iconoclastic as well. We can appreciate Kirkpatrick totally based on her are since she is not responsible (to my knowledge) for any pop songs whatever.

Find out more about Kirkpatrick HERE.

Galerie Ernst Hilger (Vienna/Jersey City) showed this piece, Happiness, by Damien Hirst at Art Miami New York 2015.

You almost have to love a work that juxtaposes butterflies, polka dots and syringes. There is an optimism to the piece...or is there? A syringe, of course, can be an instrument of salvation or addiction. This piece has something of an "what you bring to it" vibe.

Brian Gross Fine Art Presents Spontaneous Order By Pard Morrison July 9 To August 29, 2015

Brian Gross Fine Art presents Spontaneous Order by Pard Morrison July 9 to August 29, 2015. There will be a reception for the artist from 4 to 6 pm. Saturday, July 11.

This exhibit will feature new pieces from the Colorado sculptor. Included in the exhibition will be a number of multicolored, shaped paintings on aluminum and a large freestanding sculpture.

Morrison's minimalist forms also feature a painterly application of color. An enameling process, patination, is used to make work that truly combines painting and sculpture. The colored forms are wrapped around the sculptural shape. The new work also has a new approach to color for the artist.

"Eileen David: Recent Paintings" Runs June 16 To July 25, 2015 At Paul Thiebaud Gallery (San Francisco)

Eileen David: Recent Paintings runs June 16 to JUly 25, 2015 at Paul Thiebaud Gallery (645 Chestnut St., San Francisco). There will be a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 20.

David, a long-time resident of San Francisco, has made her home the subject of her work. She doesn't just find a spot and make a painting; she gets to know the spot, she roams the city like an explorer. This is gratifying to me because my first impression, looking at these pieces, was that while they are cityscapes they have the feel of nature paintings. You can see more of her work and read her full artist's statement at www.eileendavid.com.

The artist is originally from New York and holds a BA (studio art/art history) from San Francisco State University and an MFA (painting) from San Jose State University. You can check out the exhibit online when it opens at the Paul Thiebaud Gallery website (linked above).

The Print Center (Philadelphia) Presents A Portfolio Of Prints, "The Leisure Pool Suite," By Kristen Martincic

Picture
The Print Center (1614 Latimer St., Philadelphia) is set to offer a new portfolio of prints from Kristen Martincic. The pieces,
collectively titled, The Leisure Pool Suite, are of six woodcuts and an H20 Pool Float.

These prints have, as subjects, aerial views of backyard swimming pools. These pools are divorced from their natural surroundings. Glancing
at the work the viewer might figure out the subject immediately--or think of other meanings to these shapes. The prints seems a great purchase to
start the summer (and then you can look at them in the winter and sigh).

The series, and individual prints from the series, are available exclusively from The Print Shop. If you opt for the complete set it comes in a
box handcrafted by Martincic.

You can see more by (and read more about) the artist at kmartincic.com. Her work has been shown all over the USA and also at the American University in
Cairo.
