Baechler, from Connecticut and was a mainstay in the New York art scene of the 1980s. His work is easily identifiable; the rose is a common image. It is, of course, not the only reoccurring image, you are likely to see skulls, globes, various balls as the focus of his art. The pieces, like Tuesday Monday, may have more than one of these reoccurring motifs. His work exists somewhere between neo-expressionism and a latter day incarnation of pop art. Zavaglia's piece is embroidery but you might not get that at first glance. The texture makes the images more realistic than many painters. The detail is fascinating. Find out more at caycezavaglia.com.
