
Rothschild was born in New York City and went to school at Wellesley College (Massachusetts) and later at Cranbrook Academy of Art (Michigan). Early in her career she was known for her paintings of the California coast. The paintings here are later works that show the shift in her work in the 1970s. She began to create more abstract work.
She was an artist who, even in her later years, strove to change and grow in her work.
