Chotvichai is an emerging artist, based in Bangkok, who addresses identity and gender issues based on self-portraits. She hand cuts images of her body into strops, stripping away physical form and relinquishing attachment to the body in the process.
Her work comes about via numerous steps. She sketches each composition and then translates these into photographs. She then distorts the image before printing and mounting. She then uses a utility knife to slice parts of the canvas into the previously mentioned strips. With these strips she then makes the images three dimensional.
Chotvichai has a MA in fine arts from Silpakorn University (Bangkok). She was featured in a recent survey of Thai art at Saatchi Gallery (London).
