Water and Tucker by Johnny Warangkula Smith Davidson Gallery (Amsterdam / Miami) showed art by Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Tommy Watson Yannima and Johnny Warangkula Tjupurrula at Expo Chicago 2018.
Kngwarreye is the most famous female Australiam aboriginal artist. She passed away in 1996. Her work was influential not just in Australia but worldwide. You can see, if you go to the gallery page, the diversity of her art.
Yannima and Warangkula also illustrate the diverse, complex nature of Australian aboriginal art. It isn't static and traditional but vibrant and alive, as much so as any Western art. Galleries showing young, living, artists are not currently plentiful (in the USA at least).
