SMAC (Cape Town) showed this piece by Georgina Gratrix at Untitled Miami Beach 2018.
This is one of the smaller of Gratrix' works show at Untitled but is an example of how simple can be compelling. I looked at this for some time trying to see it as an abstract instead of the figure of a bird. You can see more of her work at the gallery link above.
Gratrix was born in Mexico City and grew up in South Africa, where she lives and works. Her paintings are sometimes off-kilter portraits, sometimes there are colorful still life paintings full of vibrant color...and then there are some small bird portraits...
