Gravitational Radius Scott White Contemporary Art (La Jolla) runs Hither and Yon, an exhibition by David Adey from January 11 to February 15, 2013. There will be an artist walk and talk from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday January 11.
In the exhibit Adey uses different materias and techniques to analyze the notion of constraints as a metaphor for the human condition. I confess to not knowing what this means.
Some of these works involve deconstructed consumer images. He uses fragmetns of shik from hundreds of models, celbrities making collages. Describing this likely isn't goint to do it justice. Adey is, incidentally, the first artist signed on to be in residence at Scott White Gallery. He is on sabbatical from his position as Professor of Art at Point Loma Nazarene University.
There is also a documentary on Adey that filmmaker, Dale Schierholt is putting together. It will air on KPBS and will premier at MCASD in La Jolla. See a preview below.
