Among the artists shown by Octavia Art Gallery was Sarah Ashley Longshore. Longshore's studio is near Octavia in New Orleans.
Longshore is a charming woman. I interviewed her last year--finding her work almost by accident. Then to keep the audio safe I stored it on an external hard drive--which promptly crashed taking interviews, photos and all sorts of other stuff as well.
Longshore's work allows the use of one of my favorite words, "whimsical." Her work is acrylic and mixed media on canvas with heavy resin. These are decorative, light-hearted pieces, new Pop Art without apology. If someday that hard drive (I still have it) recovers that missing interview shall run.
