Dissolve 2013 Ryan McLennan's Fabrications runs from September 6 to October 5, 2013 at David B. Smith Gallery (1543 A Wazee Street, Denver). There will be a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 6. The artist will be on hand.
McLennan, who lives and works in Brooklyn, has created pieces inspired by great films--including some by the great Andrei Tarkovsky and Guy Maddin. These 20 paintings were created in one year. Some of them are based on film stills but with the "narrative" removed.
McLennan is originally from Virginia and received a BFA in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University.
