Statsinger studied at both the Art Students League (NYC) and at the University of Chicago and the School of the Art Institute. She received her degree at the latter. She was part of the Chicago grouping known as the "Monster Roster." They painted images figures that were monstrously distorted. You will notice Meditations, above, is not monstrous, nor is it figurative. It was painted in 1989.
Klamen's work often references philosophy, religion or literature--the pieces below, as you may note, reference the work of other artists. He lives in Chicago and is a professor at Indiana University Northwest.
