Porkchop's work has been at Scope and other fairs for years, shown by Parlor Gallery (Asbury Park, NJ). It might, on the surface, conjure images of death metal but when you take some time and look closely, this isn't as "dark" as it seems.
I am sure there is some psychological component , some almost Rorschach Test-like explanation for why some of us see the dark and not the gold in pieces like this.
Looking at the Porkchop and gallery website will also give you an idea of the diversity of work from the artist. It isn't all in this style. In fact, looking through the Art of Porkchop website I was reminded of some of his dreamier, often cosmic art. There is still a thread that connects it all, which is fascinating.
