This year Pore, an exhibit of work by Martha Friedman, will be presented by Locust Projects in Miami Design Distric. Friedman will create four large rubber "pours" representing the four humors of blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile. Translucent sheets of rubber created will hang from the ceiling, each brightly colored and dramatically descend to the floor. Each is then connected to a "wearable sculpture." If this sounds like it might not translate easily into words? You might be right. Go see it.
The wearable sculptures were made for dancer and choreographer, Silas Riener, who has worked for years with Friedman. For more information go HERE.
Locust Projects is a not-for-profit founded in 1998 by three Miami artists, COOPER, Elizabeth Withstandley and Western Charles. They were among the first to move into the Wynwood area (back when it was quite stabby). Locust Projects exhibition space is dedicated to visual artists looking to experiment; there are no worries about sales and the other pressures of a gallery.
