Paul Zoubok Gallery (New York) showed work by Vanessa German at Expo Chicago 2017. German is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Pittsburgh. She is also more than an artist as the founder of Love Front Porch and the ARThouse. The former refers to German's own front porch, where she creates art in her Homewood Neighborhood--kids are welcome (I strongly recommend clicking the link above). Art House is the logical extension of Love Front Porch, an actual Art House (read more on it HERE).
When German is called "multi-disciplinary" it is not blowing smoke. She is a poet, painter, performer, writer and, of course given the piece above, a sculptor. The piece above, i love you this much, resembles many of her other sculptures in theme and structure.
Her work is held in numerous private and public collections including Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
