Paul Pretzer's work was shown at Pulse by Mark Straus Gallery (299 Grand Street, NYC). Pretzer was born in Estonia and now works in Dresden, Germany. He was the subject of an exhibit at the gallery at the end of 2011, The Seventh Skill.
His works are, at the same time, whimsical and haunting at the same time. They are mythic and a bit surreal.

It is interesting that Marc Straus is not some guy with an MFA but a professor of medicine and a poet. He and his wife Livia, founded The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art in addition to this gallery. They have been art collectors for decades.
