Of course this is true even when you see it in person and that is point of the point. Whatever the artist may have intended, to me the piece is a sort of "ghost story" in a frame and, like other works by Ruscha, it has an otherworldly quality (without resorting to painting in fairies).
Obviously these are not paintings but limited prints. Mixografia work in handmade paper prints and you should visit their site because they have wonderful stuff. Mixographia were part of the Ink Miami Art Fair.
