Aaron Curry, originally from San Antonio, but currently living and working in Los Angeles, is one of the artists exhibited by Michael Werner Gallery in New York City. So these pieces may not be eloquent but you try writing after 48 hours with two of sleep, go ahead, I dare you. In any case two more of the artists featured by Michael Werner Gallery are below. The Gallery was one of the first a visitor sees when entering Art Basel. There is an odd urge to linger around the entrance; it is something like entering some primeval cave. Ok, in truth it is nothing like that but if you have been before you know it is something of a daunting task. There is a massive amount of art to view and digest.
There are pieces from a variety of eras (although largely modern and later). The styles, schools and mediums represented are likewise enormous. There really isn't much point to trying to see everything in a single day.
Another of the artists exhibited by Michael Werner is Per Kirkeby (Copenhagen, Denmark) who works in mixed media and six pieces are in the video immediately below. The reason for videos instead of photos? They look better. Nonetheless the sculptures of Markus Lüpertz are presented below as photos. A wonderful painting, Der Zug (The Train) by Sigmar Polke, which would simply not look right as a photo, color-wise, is presented as a video.
