Marc Straus (New York) showed work by Sandro Chia at Expo Chicago 2017. Chia is an Italian painter who came to prominence in the 1980s as part of the group known as Transavanguardia. His work has been shown all over the world for over 40 years--perhaps most notably as part of the Biennale of Paris, San Paolo and three different Venice Biennale. That is a pretty impressive list.
The artist, orginally from Florence, reaches into history and art history and weaves a variety of influences throughout his work. His work is held by more prominent public and private collections than is practical to list.
