
Dorn's work begs for a close look (hence the close up of Home below). From a distance and in these photos you miss the details. What you first perceive is simple but as you look, as you change your physical proximity; as you move to one side or get closer, you seem something else. Some paintings grab you with complexity from a distance and you see more of that the closer you get. The details in these paintings may change how you FEEL about them. Are they welcoming? Or ominous?

Dorn lives and works in Houston. He studied painting at Anderson University (South Carolina) and at the University of Houston.
