Sanders has often used beeswax in her work, sometimes saturating linen in beeswax and stretching it over supports. Yet her MFA is in ceramics and a new series features ceramics. This exhibition blends the beeswax pieces and a new sculpture
series. Both of these mediums react to heat in different ways and the procedure for creating with them have similarities.
The artist was born in Arkansas and lives in Brooklyn. She has a BFA from the University of Miami (see? I post stuff on Hurricanes who are artists!) and an MFA from Ohio State University. Her work has been shown in the USA, Italy, Germany, Mexico and Paris. It has been reviewed in Art in America, Artslant, Modern Painters and other publications.
