We've written about Kahn for many years. The German-born painter's work are landscapes that are both powerful and aesthetically lovely. He sometimes uses colors that seem natural but, when you think on it for awhile, you realize they are not. He makes whatever he paints seem real even though nothing he paints is anywhere near photo realistic. He is one of the worlds greatest living artists and I will fight anyone who disagrees with that statement (unless they are really large or an MFA fighter).
McNickle is a new artist to us and he usually is a landscape painter. But the piece below is not that; it is a more abstract mixed media piece. It is lovely as well. Hope to see more from him. The title of the piece below, The Ground Of Being 14 (Narrowed Attention), will resonate with art collectors who are also parents of teenagers.
