Jenkins Johnson Art (San Francisco) showed work by Sadie Barnette at Untitled Miami 2016. The top piece is a C-print (yes, taking a picture of a picture is weird). The bottom pieces are collage.
Barnette creates work that searches out unusual locations of "identity construction," celebration, excess, the mystery of family and "subculture coding." Her work ranges from photography to drawing, found objects to large scale installations and more.
She holds a BFA from California Institute of the Arts and an MFA from University of San Diego. Miami visitors and residents may have seen her work in the collection of the Perez Art Museum.
