Hew Locke's Patriots runs October 11 to November 10, 2018 at P.P.O.W (535 West 22nd St., New York). There will be an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 11.
This is Locke's first exhibition with the gallery. This investigation is part of the artist's ongoing examination of public statues. This exhibit looks at sometimes controversial statues in the USA but the artist was originally inspired by Victorian statues in the U.K.
Locke takes large scale photos of these statues and then embellishes and decorates them.
