Henrique Faria (Buenos Aires/New York) showed this piece by Marcela Astorga at Untitled Miami Beach 2016.
Astorga's art is not exactly vegan-friendly. She uses slabs of beef, animal skins and horse bristles in her work (the last one need not require the demise of the horse).
This imaginative piece is what makes Untitled one of the fairs most important to visit for fans of contemporary art. The artists are often less encumbered with notions of "what will sell" (I assume) and create innovative art that (I again assume) actually sells.
Astorga's work is included in collections such as Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, Museum of Contemporary Art of Rosario (Argentina), Júmex Foundation/Collection (Mexico), CIFO Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (Miami) and the Zabludowicz Collection (London). She is an artist to keep tabs on.
