No. 79 Galerija Bastejs (Riga) showed work by Henrijs Preiss at Scope Miami Beach 2014.
Preiss' resume includes work and a degree ( Professional degree in Sceneography from Art Academy of Latvia) in set design. So many fine artists, going back hundreds of years have had a background in designing for the theater. Preiss is unique in that his works seems directly drawn from the world of theater (they almost look like diagrams for stages).
His influences are not limited to the stage--urban architecture, video game graphics and religious paintings are all referenced in his work. His pieces sometimes look like iconography minus the icons. These pieces are all acrylic on wood.
He was born in Riga, Latvia and currently lives in London.
