from Piedras Blancas by Miguel Angel Rios Galerie Wendi Norris (161 Jessie St., San Francisco) presents two exhibits; Miguel Angel Rios' A Trilogy And Val Britton's Transmissions. Both open with an reception 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2016.
A Trilogy is Rios' first solo exhibition with the gallery. Three of the artist's most recent videos will be shown: Piedras Blancas, Mulas and Landlocked. Rios was known for his paintings and collages but moved to video. These pieces are site specific and related to land-art. His work challenges and alters the tradition approach to representing landscape. Related works: paintings, works on paper, photos and drawings will also be part of the exhibit.
Transmissions is Britton's second solo exhibit with the gallery and features new large printed collages and a suspended paper installation (these are the artist's first free-standing sculptural work). The pieces are colorful and use cut out sections (both laser and hand cut). Her work channels both the terrestrial and celestial worlds.
