Galerie Von Braunbehrens (Stuttgart) showed Luscious Selection by Peter Anton at Art Miami New York 2015. This piece looks good enough to eat but since it is made of resin, acrylic, wood, metal clay and other materials it might be fairly tough on the teeth.
Anton, a Connecticut-based artist, creates art that mimics food. The pieces might bring forth cravings in the viewer and that is by design. These are sensual pieces, as sensual as any nude; what is more sensual that chocolate?
The artist's work takes these things we crave and makes them large in scale--massively oversized, ridiculously so. You also get a sense of good humor from these pieces (especially the one's of ice cream).
