Bradford is an artist and educator. I've read about her and her abstract paintings but all of these include obvious figurative elements as well: ships, boats and wee little humans.
When I attend Art Week in Miami and try (futilely) to see everything I often wind up rushing past work or it becomes a blur. When it comes time to post on the photos I took I don't recall what I was thinking when I saw them. Bradford's work is different. I recall what I was thinking. I wondered at the contrast between how "simple" these paintings seem versus how complicated they are when you examine them at length. I am not saying this recollection is particularly profound. Pleasure Boat particularly caught my eye with its "messiness" contrasting to the meticulous painting of the boat.
There is something primal in these paintings as well.
