Gibson's art is unapologetically political. He has said that he isn't the only person questioning how the USA works but he certainly does it in a unique way. Sometimes subtle, sometimes a bludgeon, his art isn't all about one thing but recent works have been inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement.
Can art change things? Maybe or maybe not but it certainly doesn't hurt for artists to try.
