Flying Horse Editions (Orlando) showed prints by Kelly Reemtsen at Ink Miami 2016. Her work is usually painting but these are prints. These are copperplate gravure etching with screenprint on Arches En -Tout-Cas.
Reemtsen is painter we've written about before (although we spelled her name wrong). Her work features women--in clothing that often hearken back to an earlier time. Yet the focus of the work is MOSTLY on the various implements the women hold. These implements may be garden sheers or sledge hammers but they are always something far less dainty than the faceless women holding them.
Hammer (the piece in the middle and below) is an edition of 25 and sells for $3200, quite a bit less than one of her paintings. These pieces are also smaller and can fit in the sort of space most of us live in.
Reemtsen has a book of her work as well. Kelly Reemtsen, I'm Falling, won the Independent Book Publisher's Award for Most Outstanding Book of 2014.
