
There is something bright and childlike in these works but it is more an attempt by a sophisticated mind to reach back and see, create, through a child's eye. Some works are magnificent and speak to us through size, color, depth, intricacy. These work on another level, in another place. They call us back to a mental state where we were simpler--but not really. What about childhood is simple?
Nothing I write above, of course, is likely to have anything to do with the artist's intent. But that is part of art. You get to look at it and it moves you how it moves you.
Speaking of the artist, she holds a BFA from Cooper Union and is pursuing an MFA from Yale.
