Ernesto Kunde is a self-taught artist born in Brazil and now living in Miami. Kunde's work by Swenson Gallery, Miami at Scope 2012. The piece to the left is entitled Jobless & Homeless (2012). It is mixed media on "reclaimed" wood. Basically this is high art painted on assembled scraps. You can see another piece in the video below. Below that are close ups of Jobless & Homeless.
Kunde uses what he finds at hand to create art and does not cling to a particular style. You can find works by him that are acrylic on canvas or corrugated aluminum.
Kunde also says, in his biography, that he views it as part of the artist's job to capture history as it happens. He wants to capture ordinary events in a manner that demands you look. Not to sound like a critic but he has succeeded.
Kunde is currently an artist-in-residence at Bakehouse Art Complex, an incubator for artists living in South Florida.
