Eileen David: Recent Paintings runs June 16 to JUly 25, 2015 at Paul Thiebaud Gallery (645 Chestnut St., San Francisco). There will be a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 20.
David, a long-time resident of San Francisco, has made her home the subject of her work. She doesn't just find a spot and make a painting; she gets to know the spot, she roams the city like an explorer. This is gratifying to me because my first impression, looking at these pieces, was that while they are cityscapes they have the feel of nature paintings.
