Kendrick is from Boston and lives and works in New York City. His work has been shown since the early 1970s and he has been the recipient of numerous awards. This piece, Blue Holes, is mahogany and Japan blue color. There is something hypnotic and complicated in the sculpture.
While this piece is wood Kendrick also works in bronze, paper, rubber and even concrete.
His work is included in museum collections including the Whitney, the Museum of the Art Institute of Chicago, High Museum of Art, Storm King Art Center, National Gallery of Art and 20 or so other major collections. It truly is an amazing list.
