Chrisa Biddy’s exhibit, Mobile Uploads, runs June 6 to July 6, 2013 at Lyons Wier Gallery (542 West 24th Street, NYC). There will be an artist’s reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6.
Biddy used social network photos as inspiration for oil and watercolor paintings. The original, inspiring, images are of people caught by their own smart phones. He takes the language, the innate symbolism of these images and renders them as painted images.
These images also mirror the phots in size. They average about 4x6 inches.
This is Biddy’s first exhibit at Lyons Wier Gallery. He is a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute and lives and works in New York City.
