Alsoudani is an Iraqi painter (he also draws) who left his homeland after the firt Gulf War. He currently lives and works in the United States. His work, perhaps unsurprisingly, examines the subject of war. His own experiences inform his work.
Moore was an English artist who may be best known as a sculptor. The piece here is a lithograph.
Thompson is a Connecticut-based painter and printmaker. He teaches printing at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Avery, is an American painter born in New York. He is one of the many products of the Art Students League of New York. Other artist alumnus include; Jackson Pollock, Romare Bearden, Georgia O'Keefe, Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, Cy Twombly and a seemingly never ending list of others.. Avery is one of the starting points for American abstract painting; his work is, in some ways, where abstract painting in this country starts (you can argue with this a little).
