Golden Waters A Light Installation by Grimanesa Amorós From June To September 2015. The light sculpture installation extends from the Soleri Bridge in Scottsdale Arizona.

The installation is presented by Scottsdale Public Art and reflects the natural elegance of the Arizona canal. It is attached to the bridge which was designed by the visionary artist and philosopher, Paolo Soleri.

Amorós was born in Peru and currently lives and works in New York City. She works in differnt mediums and her work is steeped in a wide variety of interests" social history, critical theory and scientific research. All of these have influenced her work; she seems the perfect person to create art attached to the bridge designed by Soleri. Find out more about the artist HERE.

Millenium Park (Chicago) Hosting Installation By Spanish Sculptor Jaume Plensa To Celebrate Park's 10th Anniversary

Millenium Park (Chicago) hosting installation by Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa to celebrate park's 10th anniversary. The exhibit opens 1004 Portraits June 19, 2014 and it will be on site through December 2015.

The sculptures will be positioned to compliment the 1000 LED portraits of Chicagoans already illuminating the Crown Fountain. One sculpture, titled Looking Into My Dreams Awilda, stands 38 feet tall. Other sculptures are made of cast iron.

Plensa is to host a public discussion of the pieces from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 16 at Fullerton Hall at the Art Institute (111 S. Michigan). The conversation is free.

The installation is is co-presented by Millennium Park Foundation, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, The Boeing Company and the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.

More work by Plensa will be displayed throughout Chicago this summer including Private Dreams at Richard Gray Gallery and also a display of the piece, Silent Music, at the Ravinia Festival over the summer.

Plensa's work has been featured all over the world and he has won numerous international awards. He lives in Barcelona.

"Between The Door And The Street" A Socially Engaging Public Performance Takes Place This Saturday (10/19/13) In Brooklyn

Between the Door and the Street, A Public Performance, takes place 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., October 19, 2013 on Park Place between Vanderbilt and Underhill Avenues in Brooklyn.

The performance is by Suzanne Lacy, one of today's most socially engaged artists of the day. Three hundred people, from all age, gender, social and racial groups will gather on the stoops in this residential area. They will then engage in unrehearsed discussions on issues of gender politics today. You can wander among the groups and listen to the discussions.

One participating group is SAWCC whose team of artists, activists and curators will engage on the topic of women of color in the arts. Their "stoop" includes Shelly Bahl, Sunita S. Mukhi, Rocio Aranda-Alvarado, Maria Hupfield and one of our favorite artists, Monica Jahan Bose.

Steinunn Thórarinsdóttir, Icelandic artist, debuts her sculpture installation, Borders, August 8, 2013 at Solti Garden (on the NW corner of Jackson and Michigan Ave) in Chicago. The exhibit is sponsored by Bloomberg, chicago Park District and teh Grant Park Conservancy.

The installation includes 26 life-sized sculptures in the park. The exhibit will be there until spring 2014. It has previously been shown in Seattle, Dallas and New York

Thórarinsdóttir, a renowned artist has worked for more than 30 years and has been exhibited worldwide. Her work included in numerous public and private collections. She has been commissioned for numerous pieces of large public art as well.

Marco Nereo Rotelli One Night Installation At The Field Museum, Chicago, On June 24, 2013 In Conjunction With The Italian Cultural Institute Of Chicago

The Field Museum and the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago are teaming up to bring the city a light and sound installation created by Marco Nereo Rotelli. The installation, entitled, Divina Natura, is a one night only event taking place June 24, 2013.

What is better this event is free and open to the public on the lawn north of the museum.

The installation takes its inspiration from Dante's The Divine Comedy. The front of the museum will become a manuscript in honor of the Year of Italian Cuture. There will be readings by a variety of poets--in different languages.

Rotelli has done installatons at the Venice Biennale. He has a degree in architecture and has worked with light and poetry for some time. The artist has created major installations in Pais, Beijing, London, Naples and Rome. He is the founder of Milan's Art Project Cultural Association.

Ellen Greene's Tattoo Truck To Be Part Of Guerilla Truck Show, June 11, 2013

The yearly Guerilla Truck Show takes place from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013. One of the trucks this year will include Ellen Greene's Tattoo Truck. This truck will have the look of a vintage tattoo parlor using Greene's Tattoo gloves and Tattoo Flash.

The truck show began as a corollary to Neocon, the world's largers international trade fair. The truck fair started with 13 trucks and now hosts over 60 at Morlen Sinoway Atelier, 1052 West Fulton Market (at Aberdeen) in Chicago.

This is the ninth annual Guerilla Truck Show.

SITE Santa Fe Announces SiteLINES: New Perspectives On Art Of The Americas, A Biennial

SITE Santa Fe recently announced the first edition of SITElines, titled Unsettled Landscapes. The biennial exhibition series opens July 13, 2014 and will be open through January, 2015.

SITElines: New Perspectives on Art of the Americas will encopass six years of linked exhibits. Cultural production and contemporary are are the focus of these exhibits which take place every other year beginning in 2014. Different groups and individuals will organize exhibits throughout the Western Hemisphere.

FAPE Receives Limited Edition Reproductions of 1823 Stone Declarations Of Independence

The Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies (FAPE) has announced a gift by David Rubenstein. Rubenstein, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of the Carlyle Group, has presented a number of limited edition reproductions of the 1823 Stone Declaration of Independence. One will be installed in every U.S. embassy worldwide.

The first of these reproductions was presented by Rubenstein to Secretary of State John Kerry and FAPE's Joe Carole Lauder on Apil 29, 2013. Rubenstein was presented that evening with the Leonore and Walter Annenberg Award for Diplomacy through the Arts.

"Butter Box And The Talking Piano," An Art Installation At Billy Corgan's Madam Zuzu's At May 11, 2013

Butter Box and the Talking Piano is artist Camille Iemmolo’s latest art piece/installation. It will be held at Madame Zuzu’s (582 Roger Williams Ave) in Highland Park, Illinois from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday May 11, 2013. The venue is owned by Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan (no he isn’t going to be performing so don’t think that).

Iemmolo continues, in this piece, to combine material culture and human interaction. In the cold months the artist found herself craving baked goods. The dark skies and snow led to eating cookies, cupcakes and other sweet, buttery treats. Naturally this led to guilt. We shy away from such sweets for our health but we still crave them.

Is this craving tied to love? Iemmolo wants to explore the link between food and psychology with a particular eye to butter which was once used as tribute and sacrifice.

When we are younger baked goods are treats and rewards for good behavior. Or these goods are just tied to good memories of our mothers giving treats after school. Iemmolo wonders what happens if this buttery, sweet fat is missing? Do we just crave it forever? She also wonders if instead of these sweets, these treats, shouldn’t we humans crave each other in this way?

Come see the artist’s Talking Piano and kids from CPS Jordan Community School. As with al Iemmolo’s events it will be magical fun.

SAVING SOULS SOCIETY and the Mystery Members-a creative war GAME Postscipt.

Saving Souls Society was a panel, game, discussion and art project conceived by Camille Iemmolo and held at Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art at the Goshka Macuga Nature of the Beast Rountable.

Iemmolo, inspired by Macuga's round table brought together a number of disparate creative minds--artists, collectors, musicians, advertising genius-types, comedians, teachers and half-assed sort of once upon a time journalists (cough cough) to talk about war, peace and the need for art and humor in a suffering society.

But it wasn't just a discussion.

Everyone received, in the mail, an item and a written theme. And they had to be prepared to discuss this theme in conjunction with the item. The discussion ranged from the personal to the historic and beyond.

There was also a word jumble based on the first letter of each written theme with the prize being $500 to the winner's favorite charity.

This was the sort of project it was virtually impossible to walk out of not thinking. It was also a place where, after leaving, you wanted to go back and ask the participants questions.

Iemmolo is likely using some of the props from this in an art piece in the future. She collected the cardboard pistols that had to be aimed at whoever was speaking. Thankfully she did not collect the hats.
