James Miille showed his engaging, moving photos at Superfine! Miami Beach 2018. Remember Superfine! Los Angeles runs February 14 to 17 and Superfine! New York is May 1 to 5, 2019.
The piece below, Variant, is striking and thought-provoking. It , in fact, prompted me to violate one of my rules; do not take photos of photos.
It just seems weird to do so. But as I walked out of Superfine! Miami Beach I had to go back and revist these and take horrible inadequate pictures of Variant and Spatial Expansion. Both pieces are silver rag archival prints.
The impact of Variant is hard to get looking at this. There is part of it that is the stuff of nightmares, dirty, grasping, mindless hands. You've seen similar images in horror films. Yet in the middle there is a rainbow hand breaking through.
Speaking of breaking through that is also what caught my eye about Spatial Expansion. Again, the piece is hard to see here I suggest going to jamesmiille.com.
