Two Shores Away and Still Sloshing Asya Geisberg Gallery (537B West 23rd St., New York) runs Lotus Eaters, an exhibition of work by painter, Melanie Daniel, September 4 to October 11, 2014. There will be an opening reception 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday Septembe. Daniel, a Canadian-Israeli artist, completed both her BFA and MFA at Bezalel Academy Israel. She has had solo exhibits at galleries and museums in Israel and abroad.
This new exhibit is a depature for the artist. Previously her work was charged with politics wheras this exhibit is more languorous and hallucinatory. She is creating a sort of visual language based on anxiety based on turmoil in the Middle East. The result has the tinge of apocalypse.
