Result of Asymmetry
Jeffrey Pitt, an artist whose work is oft symbolic and anthropologically inspired, has a new exhibit, Order/Chaos, at Octavia Gallery,4532 Magazine Street, New Orleans, from May 5 through 26, 2012. There will be an reception with the artist from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday May,12.
The “anthropology” in Pitt’s work is of his own creation. He makes up the symbols that populate his art. This new exhibit approaches nothing less grand than the direction of the universe. Clearly Pitt has some self confidence!
The exhibit’s them is also about how, as technology expands in our lives are we more in control? Or is this control illusory? Is chaos spreading inevitable?
You may have seen Pitt’s work if you have stopped by the New Orleans Museum of Art or the Wichita Center for the Arts. His work is also widely collected by those private art-buying types.
