Van Dalen, originally from the Netherlands, has lived in the East Village since the early 1970s. His work chronicles the cultural changes in the neighborhood. Pieces include: collage, paintings, drawings, prints and performance. The works in this exhibit span the artist's career from his 1965 film, Flowers in My Eye, to recent collage work.
Van Dalen is represented by P.P.O.W. Gallery (New York) and has been included in group exhibitions in numerous museums including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Contemporary Art Center (Cincinnati) and the New York Historical Society. He has had solo exhibitions at Tyler School of Art (Philadelphia), University Gallery (U Mass) and Exit Art (New York) among others.
