Zammitt is a pioneer in the Light and Space movement and often worked with mural-sized canvases. But he also composed smaller work too. The pieces are linear, geometric and abstract. The work in this exhibit is made up of the artist's smaller work.
He was originally from Canada (living on the Caugnawaga Reservation near Montreal). He then moved to Buffalo before relocating to California at the age of 14. He attended Pasadena City College and earned an MFA from Otis Art Institute.
