Allison Gildersleeve's Elsewhere runs May 15 to June 21, 2014 at Asya Geisberg Gallery (537B West 23rd St., New York). There will be an opening reception 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15.
This is the artist's second exhibition with the gallery. Gildersleeve combines landscape outlines along with her energetic marks and inorganic colors. The pieces move, jostle; there are no horizons in her work.
In this exhibition the artist moves her concept of color further along into the realm of the imaginary. Traditional notions of space and scale are absent in this work and the colors are even more fantastical.
Gildersleeve is from New England and currently lives in Brooklyn.
