The exhibit consists of three large paintings and two sculptures. They are on a different scale from the artist's previous work but still reflect his fascination with the Yoruba religon.
The Sole Sitter, pictured here, is a 6 foot bronze piece.
Cole often features the deity, Elegba (the name may sound vaguely familar to those knowledgeable about Voodoo where the name became Legba). Elegba is the messenger, the conduit, between man and the gods.
Cole, from Somerville, New Jersey, studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League. He lives and works in his home state.
