New York). There will be an opening reception, with the artist, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, September 5.
The exhibition is the second by Charles at the gallery and is dedicated to his work on currency. The pieces are a sort of grafitti--and indeed people have added their drawings and thoughts to currency from its earliest use. Charles just takes it an artistic step further. It started out as doodling but he has started working with special inks and brushes to match the rules of the Federal reserve.
There is, of course, something subversive in the work as prominent figures on our money are turne into other characters.
Charles is from Seattle and studied at the San Francisco Art Institute.
