Stephanie Hirsch's I'd Rather Die On My Feet Than Live on My Knees runs from November 13 to December 14, 2013 at Lyons Wier Gallery (542 West 24th Street, New York). There will be a reception, with the artist from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013.
Hirsch's work uses beads, seqins and embroidery in her pieces. But there is more than just the aesthetic on her canvases. Each piece uses a phrase--a hopeful bit of enlightening language to "illuminate" the work. The figures in this new work are based on "selfies" tha artist took.
Hirsh's work has been shown all over the USA. She was a featured artist in a Miami Design District Art Walk last year (2012). She is also an autor and founder of Inca resort wear.
